We offer classes and workshops specifically designed for expectant and new mothers to ensure a complete, safe and active class for all three trimesters and for postpartum recovery. The sessions are open to all levels, whether you are new to yoga or have been practicing for a long time.
At the present time, we offer three classes a week of Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga, a style developed in 2002 by Yoga Instructor, Doula, and Childbirth Educator, Jennifer Wolfe. In her experience attending over 400 births, Jennifer Wolfe has witnessed the powerful impact that Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga has on a pregnant woman’s health, wellbeing and confidence. The strengthening that occurs in this yoga practice prepares the necessary muscles for labor and childbirth, often resulting in shorter labor, less pain, and fewer medical interventions, including a decrease in the need for Cesarean sections.
Pregnancy is a transformative milestone in a woman's life, and Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga can guide her from conception to birth and beyond. Women will get accustomed to using their breath while their muscles are working and contracting, which will help them stay more comfortable and relaxed during labor. Practicing Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga gives a woman access to the confidence she needs during her journey into motherhood, and helps her discover her own inner power and strength.
We also offer workshops for our prenatal students and their partners, teaching variety of yogic postures and massage techniques that help prepare the mind and body for the enormous demands of labor, and childbirth. Our next workshop is March 11th from 1-4 pm. The cost is $60 for early registration.
We also offer post-natal classes: you can attend the prenatal vinyasa yoga after the baby comes once you are cleared to exercise by your health care provider or sign up for our Mom and Baby yoga classes on Fridays at 11:30 am and practice with your little one by your side.
Finally, we are proud to be a partner with Dolphin Doula which provides birth and postpartum services for expectant mothers, including a wide variety of offerings to support a postive birth experience. Dolphin Doula holds bi-monthly "Meet the Doula" meetings at our studio (one is usually on a Thursday evening and the other on a Saturday afternoon). Dolphin also runs a "Q&A" session for prenatal students monthly at the studio prior to a Saturday class. To reserve a spot or learn more about Dolphin's services, please visit www.dolphindoula.com or call us at the studio for the date and time of the next meeting.
